First, let me just say that having kids who care enough to log onto this blog and tell me they are thinking about me is a gift that all the Xmases in the world can never duplicate. Thank you all.
So, while I am trying my hardest to beat this stupid pneumonia thing (don't worry Fi Fi, it was not your fault), you guys are going to take charge of the situation. I trust you and I know you won't let me down.
The plan for tomorrow is class will go on as scheduled. I sent the lit terms quiz in, and the sub will be distributing them to you to work on. You have as much time as you need, but you MAY NOT walk around the room this time. It's all on you. There are 10 questions, each a bit different then the other. Some questions are examples, some will ask you for straight definitions, some are both.
For period 9/10, I would like Hilary and Erik to be the informal "Head Boy" and "Head Girl" (Harry Potter STYLE!). I would like you two to collect the quizzes at the end of the period and put them in a manila folder (there is a box of them on the windowsill). Label the folder: AP LANG Lit Terms Quiz. Also, if you both could take care of taking attendance, that would be fantastic.
For period 12, I would like Jordan and Devon to act as HB and HG. For you guys, just put your period's quizzes in the folder that Hil and Erik leave on my desk. You two will take care of attendance.
On Tuesday (this is getting so depressing) I want you all to bring in your TS/TD analysis for the "How to Say Nothing in 500 Words..". You are to pick a partner and go over what you have. Make any changes or additions and hand in (again to Hil and Erik or Dev and Jordy) at the end of the period. Hil/Erik and Dev/Jordy: please put all the analyses in another manila folder and label it.
Finally--tomorrow I will be posting an actual blog question. You will have until Thursday to respond ( I hope like crazy that I will be back by then).
I will also be checking in on here, so whatever questions, comments, concerns you have, use THIS blog to post. I will keep answering questions and be as active as I can without passing out!
I miss you all so much--this whole being sick thing is not my bag of books, so I really hope I am better soon.

I had a question about the TS/TD. What do we count as paragraphs, since a lot of them are just what he would write about abolishing football and whatnot. Do you know how many TS/TDs we're suppose to have?

Use your best judgment--but remember, a writer never does anything by accident. Follow along with his example paragraphs about football in the same way you would if it were his "real" essay and try to figure out what the examples are doing. Does that make sense?

However you did TS/TD is fine, as long as you and whoever your partner is today can understand it. By now, I think you all have gotten the hang of it, and hopefully have realized its significance to interpreting literature and figuring out writers' various styles.
I am posting the REAL blog question now, and yes, I am late because it is hard to stay awake for extended periods of time and actually think intelligently with all this medicine coursing through my veins.
Because I am late, you will have until Friday MORNING ;).

I have sent in the Vocab Quiz, so that goes on as scheduled, and as soon as everyone is finished with that, I want you guys to do some I HAVE WHO HAS. The cards for it should be on the podium.

Hi guys...no good news yet. So, now I am hoping for Friday. :(
In any case--I sent in a cool blog post I got from NY Times Blog. It is about overbearing mothers, which some of you will be able to relate to. Your task tomorrow is fairly simple--read the article/blog post and respond in some way--as though the author were a person in our class and you were online responding. I don't want you to be stressed, so just a little easy writing ok? Hand in to your respective Head Boy/Girl for your period, and they (Hils/Erik and Dev/Jordy) will collect them all and put them in yet another manila folder on my desk. DO NOT LET THE SUB PUT ANYTHING ELSE IN MY MAILBOX--Please!! I have heard stories about how it is overflowing and I HATE that.
